SAKRETE Concrete Adhesive is a high performance, latexemulsion adhesive designed for use as a bonding agent between new and existing concrete and masonry surfaces. Either brush on to existing surface or mix into fresh material.
Can be used for patch repairs or resurfacing on concrete bridges, parking decks, industrial floors, retaining walls or sidewalks. Also use for parge-coating foundation walls and leveling concrete floors to receive overlayments. This product can be used on wood substrate, solely for use with SAKRETE Self Leveling Underlayment.
Concrete must be fully cured (approximately 28 days) and dry before painting. Refer to paint manufacturer directions for application instructions.
When used in the repair mix, prevent rapid drying. During hot weather or low humidity cover the repair surface and protect from direct sunlight for 24 hours. For the next three (3) days, moisten the surface occasionally with a fine spray of water. Under normal conditions, repaired areas may be open for light traffic after 24 hours and heavy traffic after 48 hours. When used as a bond coat, follow the concrete product’s curing recommendations.
When placing, use a trowel and force the mix well into all voids in the prepared surface. Finish trowelling should be done right away. Do not over trowel.
Substitute SAKRETE Concrete Adhesive in place of water when mixing SAKRETE Concrete Mix, SAKRETE Sand Mix or SAKRETE Mortar Mix. Do not dilute the SAKRETE Concrete Adhesive before adding it to the mix. To obtain the desired consistency, it may be necessary to add a slight amount of water. Add only a little at a time.
NOTE: When working with concrete-containing air-entrained agents (i.e., SAKRETE PSI 6000), use only as a bond coat.
Apply SAKRETE Concrete Adhesive with a paint brush or roller. Coat the entire surface evenly, leaving no puddles. Apply the prepared patching material while the bond coat is still tacky.
The surface to be repaired must be structurally sound and clean, as well as free from any dirt, oil, grease, paint, or other contaminants. Use either mechanical means (such as sandblasting or wire brushing) or chemical means (such as a 10% trisodium phosphate solution) to thoroughly clean the area before repair. Smooth surfaces should be roughened by mechanical means or by using a 10% muriatic acid solution.
NOTE: Acid solution must be washed off the surface thoroughly with water. Clean the area to be repaired with potable water, leaving the concrete saturated but free of standing water. Some very porous concretes may require several applications of water to ensure complete saturation.
As a bond coat, 946 mL will cover approximately 5 m² (50 ft²), depending upon surface porosity and condition. And as a bond coat, 3.78 L will cover approximately 20 m² (200 ft²), depending upon surface porosity and condition.
Mix and substrate temperatures should be maintained between +5 °C and +30 °C (40 °F and 86 °F) for at least 24 hours prior to and 48 hours after. Not recommended to be used in areas where in-service temperatures exceed +37 °C (100 °F).
